South Africa take home sevens title
South Africa's rugby players have won their first sevens world series title on home soil, coming from behind to beat defending champions New Zealand 12-7 in Saturday's final.
The victory at the South Africa Sevens also gave the home side consecutive titles in the series for the first time, after winning the season-opener at Dubai last weekend.
New Zealand captain DJ Forbes scored first, then Renfred Dazel replied, leaving the Kiwis leading 7-5 at halftime.
New Zealand looked set to hold out the home side in another tight second half but South Africa captain Mzwandile Stick beat the defence two minutes from time for the winning converted try.
Australia missed out on registering any series points towards the overall series standings after falling to the French 21-12 in the Bowl Final.
France crossed for three tries while the Australians replied with two through Luke Morahan and Richard Kingi.
Earlier, Australia held off Wales 22-19 to win their Bowl semi final while France defeated Kenya 19-14.
South Africa lead the series with 40 points, followed by New Zealand on 28, and England and Fiji on 24.
Australia is equal ninth on the standings with four points.
New Zealand host the next leg in Wellington from Feb. 6-7.
