Michael Henderson re-signs with Titans
Gold Coast have re-signed prop Michael Henderson through to the end of the 2012 NRL season.
The retention comes as a tremendous show of faith in the 24-year-old, who had another 18 months to run on his existing deal and is just five games into a comeback from a badly broken leg.
Henderson played only five games in 2007 before his season was ruined by a spiral fracture in his leg.
"The last 12 or so months have been pretty tough and not what I really wanted when I moved up here," said Henderson, who joined the Titans after four seasons at St George Illawarra.
"But I'm extremely happy with way the leg has come back and the way I've recovered.
Titans coach John Cartwright said Henderson's ability to rebound from last year's lows showed a great amount of mental toughness.
"You build your side on front rowers," Cartwright said.
"Hendo has had a very tough couple of years with injury and he's shown what he's made of with the way he's come back.
"He probably should only be getting back to playing first grade now but out of necessity he's played the last five games and he's performed well."
"He's young as far as front rowers are concerned so his best football is in front of him and I feel representative footy is only around the corner for him."
