Souths release Rogers to join Dragons
South Sydney have released five-eighth Ben Rogers from his NRL contract so he could join St George Illawarra for the rest of the year.
Rogers has been unable to reclaim his place in the NRL side since being dropped for breaching an alcohol ban in April and requested a release so he could link with the Dragons.
The Rabbitohs confirmed the departure of Rogers with a brief statement on Thursday.
"The South Sydney Rabbitohs have released Ben Rogers from the remainder of his playing contract effective immediately," said the statement.
"Rogers approached the Rabbitohs for a release to join the St George Illawarra Dragons, a request which was granted today," said the statement.
"The South Sydney Football Club wishes Rogers the best of luck for the remainder of his career."
