Embley, Wirrpanda close to Eagles recall
West Coast could welcome back premiership stars Andrew Embley and David Wirrpanda for their bottom of the table clash with Port Adelaide in Perth this weekend.
With both sides in unfamiliar AFL territory, and terrible form, West Coast coach John Worsfold said Embley had almost fully recovered from the virus which caused him to miss last week's heavy loss to the Swans.
And Wirrpanda's hamstring injury is also improving, with both likely inclusions to face Mark Williams's side on Sunday.
Worsfold said a problem with Embley's blood enzyme level had been pinpointed as the cause of the lethargy which the Norm Smith medallist complained of during the derby loss to Fremantle two weeks ago.
"We know what it was, and it is coming good, which is great. He will do a bit of training tonight, and be checked over tomorrow," Worsfold said.
"If he comes through OK he will play, or will be available to play.
"He felt very lethargic in the game against Fremantle and that is why the tests were done. He had no real energy at all. That was the symptoms that caused all the tests."
There was more good news about ruckman Dean Cox, whose foot injury almost caused him to miss the trip to Sydney last week.
"He pulled up really well, he is miles better than he was this time last week," Worsfold said.
"I think it will be close to 100 per cent maybe this week, if not this week then definitely next week."
