Burgess can't conjure Washington win
Former Opals guard Annie Burgess produced a career high 11 assists but failed to stop the Washington Mystics losing 84-70 to Connecticut in the WNBA.
Burgess entered the game ranked only in the WNBA's top 20 in assists, averaging just 3.2 a match.
But the Sydney Olympic silver medallist cut loose against the Sun, adding three rebounds to her incredible assists haul against an in-form Connecticut.
However, the Sun rolled on to its second straight win over Washington thanks to Shannon Johnson who scored 17 of her 24 points in the first half.
Coco Miller scored 12 of her 17 points in the first half, but Washington trailed at the break, 38-34.
Stacey Dales-Schuman chipped in 16 points and Tonya Washington finished with 15 for the Mystics.
