Great week for Lawrence
Canberra has been given no chance of victory in Sunday's NRL qualifying final and coach Matthew Elliott loves it.
The Raiders, who will take on the Sydney Roosters at Aussie Stadium minus inspirational forward Ruben Wiki (ankle) and captain Simon Woolford (suspension), are rank outsiders with bookmakers.
And Elliott is lapping it up.
"I think it's fabulous," Elliott said.
"I think it's absolutely fabulous we have been given no chance."
Woolford's suspension on Wednesday night was the final straw.
Betting agencies Centrebet and SportsTAB on Thursday reported no interest in the Raiders, with one punter placing $100,000 on the Roosters at $1.10.
"They're completely friendless," Centrebet's Gerard Daffy said on Thursday night.
Elliott has managed to maintain his sunny disposition despite the week of trial.
On Thursday he added Premier League rake Jarred Lawrence to the bench as cover for Woolford, shifting Brad Drew to the hooking spot and promoting Mark McLinden to halfback.
