Ireland edge out Scotland 19-18
Ireland secured their third Six Nations triple crown in four years with a nail-biting 19-18 win over Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.
Flyhalf Ronan O'Gara scored the game's only try and kicked Ireland's other points to seal a seventh successive victory over the Scots, although victory was never a formality for the Irish.
The hosts, rejuvenated after their humiliating 37-17 home defeat by Italy in the last round, threatened an upset until the dying minutes.
Ireland began strongly but failed to assert and led 13-9 at the break, O'Gara finishing off from an exchange of passes after the flyhalf had charged down opposite number Dan Parks's clearance for the only try.
Chris Paterson's boot kept the Scots in contention and his fifth successful penalty put his side ahead for the first time on the hour and he extended the lead with another goal to make it 18-13.
Two O'Gara penalties in quick succession put Ireland ahead again with 10 minutes remaining and they held on.
