Lions name key trio in squad
The Brisbane Lions have named Daniel Bradshaw, Aaron Shattock and Robert Copeland in a 25-man squad for Sunday's AFL clash against the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba.
They were bracketed alongside ruckman Jamie Charman, vice-captain Darryl White, midfielder Shaun Hart and defender Ashley McGrath on a seven-man interchange bench.
Bradshaw surrendered his position in the team last week after a badly corked calf forced him out of the chosen side on the morning of the grand final rematch against Collingwood at the Gabba.
Shattock will be chasing a senior recall after playing in the first three rounds of the season, while Copeland is in line for his first AFL appearance since the 2001 preliminary final.
The man who took Bradshaw's place in the side, 18-year-old Jared Brennan, has retained his position after a stellar debut last week earned him a Norwich Rising Star nomination.
Brennan, who had 14 disposals in an eye-catching and much-publicised AFL debut, was named in the starting 18 and is guaranteed a place in the 22-man team, which will be finalised after final training on Friday.
The Darwin product has been engulfed in a mass of publicity, but when speaking to the media on Wednesday admitted he didn't take selection for granted.
"I just hope I get a game this week"," he said.
The Lions will take an 8-4 edge in head-to-head meetings against the Bulldogs into Sunday's game, including 5-2 at the Gabba.
They have won seven of the last eight meetings between the sides, winning last year by 16 points at Telstra Dome and by 38 points at the Gabba.
