Dockers to make late call on line-up
Fremantle coach Mark Harvey will keep one eye on the weather and the other on a sick player before deciding on the final 22 to take on Brisbane in Sunday's AFL clash at the Gabba.
The Dockers flew out of Perth on Friday but not before Harvey revealed one of his players was feeling "under the weather" and in some doubt to play.
Harvey said he would wait to see whether the showers forecast for Brisbane on Sunday arrived before deciding on the final make-up of his team.
For the moment, Fremantle have made three changes to the side that lost to Port Adelaide last week.
Peter Bell, Robert Warnock and Mark Johnson have been named to replace Byron Schammer, Paul Duffield and Scott Thornton.
But should the forecast showers arrive, it could spell bad news for 206cm ruckman Warnock, with Harvey hinting he may opt to go with another running player should wet weather prevail.
Speedsters Schammer and Thornton flew to Brisbane as emergencies.
"Sometimes you can just maybe change your structure, meaning height-wise (if it rains)," Harvey said.
"You have to play more ground level players if it rains too heavily over there ... so that's what we are going to be guided on."
But Harvey said he was eager for the chance to team up Warnock with fellow ruckman Aaron Sandilands for an extended period of time.
"If it happens this weekend we would certainly like to sustain it and have a real good look at it," he said.
"Brisbane have always played two big ruckmen themselves, (Jamie) Charman and (Mitch) Clark, and they've got (Matthew) Leuenberger around the corner.
"It will be interesting to see how it goes when it does happen."
Warnock has managed just two games for the Dockers this season and has struggled to have an impact in the WAFL.
Brisbane have made two changes to the team that defeated North Melbourne last week, with Robert Copeland and debutant James Hawksley replacing injured pair Jason Roe (hamstring) and Ashley McGrath (hamstring).
The Dockers have never beaten Brisbane in seven meetings at the Gabba but Harvey said he was eager to turn that record around.
"For three quarters we've been playing with flair ... hopefully we can sustain that," he said.
