Simmonds suspended for one week
Fremantle ruckman Troy Simmonds was suspended for one game for striking by the AFL Tribunal.
Simmonds was found guilty of striking Hawthorn's Sam Mitchell in the third quarter of last Sunday's game in Launceston.
Simmonds, who has played every game this season and is sixth among the league's ruckman for hitouts, will miss the Dockers' round 14 game against Brisbane.
It was the first suspension of Simmonds' 73 game career.
Simmonds struck Mitchell to the side of the face with his wrist as the pair pulled each other's guernseys.
Simmonds argued he was trying to break Mitchell's hold on his jumper and only made incidental contact.
Tribunal chairman Brian Collis said his action was reckless and unnecessary.
