Jordan says no to All-Star wild card
Michael Jordan says he does not want to be included in the NBA All-Star Game if he is not chosen by the traditional fans' vote.
Jordan was reacting to rumours the NBA might give him a wild card for the February 9 match in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as San Antonio Spurs centre David Robinson should they not make the list of 12.
"I would not want (the league) to do that," said Jordan after the Washington Wizards' victory over Denver here tonight.
"If I can't make it on merit as one of the 12 players on the team, I don't want them to create a 13th spot. I would not feel comfortable."
The result of the vote will be announced on Thursday.
"If I am not elected, I will have no remorse," added Jordan.
"That's seven days of relaxation. If I am, it's always a pleasure to represent the fans, coaches, whoever puts you on the team.
"It will be a good way to end my career playing in an All-Star Game. If I don't, it will not spoil my lunch."
Jordan, who is 40 on February 17, said last November that there was no chance he would play next season.
