We needed one more minute: Schneider
Sydney forward Adam Schneider believes 45 more seconds and the 2006 AFL premiership would have belonged to the Swans.
Schneider narrowed the deficit to one point halfway through the last quarter in Saturday's loss to West Coast with a goal on the run and although the Swans never headed the Eagles, the left-footer was sure another minute would have been enough with his side attacking hard.
The ball was on Sydney's right forward flank when the final siren sounded.
"You never know what could happen, but you like to think another 45 seconds with the ball in our forward line...," Schneider rued afterwards.
"But that's footy and credit to West Coast, they deserve the win."
Although most of the Swans side could take some solace from winning last year's premiership and from staging a magnificent comeback, Schneider said the instant pain of defeat was unbearable.
"It's the worst I've ever felt in my life, I sunk to the ground and I couldn't believe it," he said.
"The effort the boys put in the second half and to get so close and not win - it kills you."
