Talk of Bradford move premature: Morley
Sydney Roosters prop Adrian Morley claims talk of a permanent move to Super League champions Bradford next season is premature.
Morley, off contract at the end of 2006, said he was undecided about his future beyond this season, but was hopeful of having it sorted out before the opening round of the NRL on March 10.
English magazine League Weekly claimed the Roosters firebrand could be part of an elaborate deal which would see the 28-year-old return to Odsal in exchange for fellow Great Britain international Stuart Fielden, who would head to Bondi Junction in 2007.
"I don't know anything about it (moving to Bradford)," said Morley, who returned from a holiday in the UK this week.
"It was news to me when I read the newspaper."
Morley enjoyed a successful short stint with the Bulls at the tailend of last season, becoming only the second player after former Canberra backrower David Furner to win the treble of the English Challenge Cup and both Super League and NRL premierships.
Despite the obvious attractions of returning to his homeland, and to the Bulls, Morley said there was still a possibility he could remain with the Roosters, a club he has been at since 2001, beyond 2006.
"I did enjoy my stint with the Bulls, but I have enjoyed my stint here at the Roosters as well," he said.
"I'll sit down with the Roosters to discuss things sometime early in the year."
League Weekly claimed a source close to the hard-running forward had revealed that Morley was unsure whether his body could handle the rigours of the NRL for three more years.
"Adrian had such a great time at Bradford and, as much as he loves his life in Australia, he wants to extend his career as long as he can," the source revealed.
Morley on Thursday denied he was worried whether his body could handle the punishment his high-impact style of game dictates.
The 26-year old Fielden has made little secret of his desire to try his hand in the NRL, though he is contracted to the Bulls until the end of the 2007 season.
In an interview with UK newspaper The Times on the eve of Great Britain's Tri-Nations final against Australia two years ago, Fielden said it was only a matter of time before he headed to the NRL.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm happy at Bradford and it's a brilliant club, but things can get a bit monotonous in nine years and you do need to challenge yourself," Fielden said.
"Am I going to go there (the NRL)? Yes, definitely, it's a question of when, where and if I'm playing well enough to justify it."
