Wallabies morale sky-high, says Turinui
Vice-captain Morgan Turinui says the morale of the Wallabies squad is sky high despite falling to a seventh straight Test loss on the weekend.
Turinui said Australia's 31-man squad remained extremely tight as they tried to end the equal worst losing streak in 36 years against Ireland on Saturday.
Instead of possible rifts and fragmentations, he pointed to the committed training efforts of the team while in London for the 26-16 defeat to England as evidence of a great morale.
"Every week we sit down and ask how's the morale? And everyone always says 'yeah it's really good'," he said.
"Everyone's training really hard right across the squad.
"We've got guys getting up 7am in the morning of the Test match, who aren't playing, and getting flogged (in fitness training) at Hampden Park.
"Our last Tuesday (fully opposed) session was almost as hard as a Test match. We belted each other. The work ethic and the morale of the team is great.
"At the moment it's going well. If we can get a couple of wins it will be even better."
Although the Wallabies tight-forwards were outclassed at Twickenham, Turinui said Australia's dangerous attacking play had strengthened the faith in Eddie Jones' fast-paced, multi-phase game plan.
"We know now that the way we're trying to play on the phase and an expansive up-tempo game works for us if we just stay truthful to it and keep the faith in the game," said the inside centre, who debuted against Ireland in Perth in 2003.
