Chiefs hold off gutsy Reds 32-20
The Queensland Reds threatened to pull off a shock Super 14 comeback win over the Chiefs before falling 32-20 at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton.
Down 24-3 at halftime and with one man off the field, the brave Reds outfit scored three tries - including two to Morgan Turinui - in 12 minutes to power back to 24-20 down but failed to land a killer blow.
The in-form Chiefs got out of jail and moved into the Super 14 top four when powerful No.8 Sione Lauaki scored a long-range intercept try with 11 minutes to play.
The Chiefs scored four tries to three with winger Lelia Masaga bagging a double and classy flyhalf Stephen Donald finishing with a personal haul of 17 points.
Queensland lost fullback Clinton Schifcofske for 10 minutes just before the break when he was yellow-carded for a professional foul.
