Turinui leaps over Rogers

Morgan Turinui has leapfrogged over the troubled Mat Rogers to take over at outside centre for Australia in Saturday's rugby Test against England at Twickenham.

With the team struck down by injuries, Rogers was expected to take over from Stirling Mortlock who broke his cheekbone against Scotland last week, but the robust Turinui has come from outside the squad two weeks ago to beat his NSW teammate to the position.

Wallabies coach Eddie Jones gave a hint earlier this week when he said Turinui was the sort of player who had the game to do well against England.

The 22-year-old joined the squad after impressing for Australia A in Paris last week following the injury to Mark Gerrard in the first week of the tour and wins his seventh cap.

As expected, Elton Flatley replaced Stephen Larkham (broken arm) at five eighth and as vice-captain while Wendell Sailor took the place of winger Clyde Rathbone who has a groin strain.

Every fit back in the squad was selected in the 22, with this year's Australian Under 21s captain and utility back Drew Mitchell coming onto the bench for potentially his first cap, while halfback Matt Henjak was also named among the replacements.

Rogers was cleared by the ARU of bringing the game into disrepute after allegations of assault made against him by an Australian supporter.

The injuries to key members of Australia's backline will help England's bid for payback for the 51-15 humiliation Australia handed out to the world champion in Brisbane in June.

You could understand the Australians still chasing revenge after the last minute extra time loss in the World Cup final 12 months ago, but it's the English who are hurting.

"June 26 was probably the most humiliating experience that I've had as a coach and if you asked most of our players who were out there they would say the same thing," England assistant coach Phil Larder said.
