Townsend in World Cup injury scare
Scotland's inspirational stand-off Gregor Townsend has suffered a World Cup scare after injuring his knee in training - just four weeks before the tournament gets underway in Australia.
Townsend twisted his knee and Scotland team medical staff are now seeking a specialist opinion.
However, team doctor James Robson is confident Townsend will be available for the World Cup.
"Given the timescale we are working to leading up to the Rugby World Cup, it is best to have Gregor's knee looked at by the specialist surgeon to make sure any irritation is accurately diagnosed and rectified if required," Robson said.
"If any surgical work is needed on the injury, it is expected he should be back playing and taking part in full training within 10 to 14 days and barring any complication would be fully available for World Cup duties."
