Warne says he's doing OK
Shane Warne says he won't allow his off-field troubles to affect his performances on the cricket field or contribute to depriving Australia of the Ashes.
Test cricket's leading wicket-taker has held his first media conference since his marriage bust-up, and while he admitted he was "doing OK" Warne stressed he would not discuss his private life.
However he did reveal that he expected the support of estranged wife Simone during the Ashes series, that he was disappointed at losing his $300,000 Channel Nine contract for off-field conduct, and that he would not show his true emotions in front of the cameras.
Warne said he and Simone - his wife of almost 10 years - were still on speaking terms despite separating last month after a storm of sex scandals involving him were revealed in British newspapers.
"I'm very lucky actually, we're still very good friends," Warne said.
"Although we're separated, we're still good friends and I'm sure we'll be there.
"We speak every day or just about and I speak to the (three) children every day, so I'm sure she'll be very supportive."
Warne, 35, said he had to "deal with" his off-field troubles and that there was "no use labouring on an issue or dragging your behind around across the floor for a while".
"It's disappointing and it's tough, but my job now is to play the best cricket I possibly can and I've got no doubt I can do that," he said.
"I think I bring something to the Australian team - not just my bowling - but my experience and a little bit of that X-factor as well."
