Fava to sign with Force
The Western Force has poached another big name with Brumbies No.8 and Wallabies squad member Scott Fava committing to the Perth franchise in what is understood to be a two-year deal.
The Super 14 team will announce the loose forward's signing in the next week.
Fava will be a massive loss to the Brumbies, the 29-year-old one of the ACT's most consistent players of the past four years.
He joins the likes of Nathan Sharpe, Brendan Cannon, Lachlan Mackay and Matt Henjak as A-list players heading west in 2006.
The Brumbies' best and fairest in 2004 had an outstanding start to the 2005 season before breaking his hand and missing a month of rugby.
Despite consistently being one of the best players in state and Sydney club rugby he'd largely failed to impress national coach Eddie Jones - until this year.
He was the "23rd man" in the Australian squad that played Samoa last Saturday and is expected to push John Roe for the back-up No.8 role behind David Lyons in Tests this year.
Whether the Force can also snare fellow Brumby Clyde Rathbone should be known in the next week.
Rathbone's knee injury may have left him out of the game for up to a month but it will expedite a decision on which of the Super 14 franchises he will play for in 2006.
The Wallabies winger said he expected to make a decision in the next week about whether he stayed with the Brumbies or accepted an offer from NSW or the Force.
