NRL and AFL on collision course
The National Rugby League and the AFL are set for a showdown over use of Telstra Stadium for their respective finals series.
The country's premier football codes are facing a potential clash in two weeks time over use of the Olympic venue, with the Bulldogs and Sydney Swans both pencilled in for home finals.
The NRL held crisis talks with stadium officials in an attempt to resolve the issue but the parties failed to settle the issue and will meet again on Wednesday morning.
"We're aware of the potential of a clash at Telstra Stadium on Saturday week, we have been aware of it for some time," NRL chief operating officer Graham Annesley said.
"We have been in discussions with the stadium about that clash.
"We intend to have further talks with them tomorrow.
"We hope to be in a position to resolve the matter one way or the other in 48 hours."
The meeting between Annesley and Stadium operations manager Daryl Kerry followed earlier talks involving stadium officials and AFL boss Andrew Demetriou.
Demetriou emerged from those talks confidently talking up the AFL's chances of winning any arm wrestle over stadium use.
"It will definitely be at Telstra Stadium and the game will be on a Saturday night," Demetriou said on the AFL's website.
