Kouta knee scare spooks Blues
Carlton captain Anthony Koutoufides is likely to undergo knee surgery this week to repair an injury causing recurring fluid build-up in the joint.
Koutoufides was a late withdrawal from the Blues team that won the Wizard Cup quarter-final after waking up in the morning with further fluid build-up after having it drained earlier in the week.
"It's a worry, we got a scan today and we will get the result and see the specialist tomorrow," coach Denis Pagan said.
"I don't know if it needs a flush-out or anti-inflammatories in the knee joint."
An arthroscopic flush-out was a sufficiently minor operation to allow Carlton to retain hope that the captain could play in next weekend's semi-final against the Western Bulldogs.
"It might be a trim here or there and it might be a little bit longer."
