AFL Hawks lose Crawford, Croad to injury
Hawthorn has been dealt a double injury blow, sidelining two of its biggest AFL stars - Trent Croad and Shane Crawford.
In-form key position player Croad will undergo wrist surgery and is expected to miss the next three matches.
The club said he consulted a specialist on Tuesday after experiencing soreness and inflammation.
Scans showed bone fragments in his wrist joint and he will undergo an arthroscopy this week to flush the fragments out.
He is likely to return for the round 10 match against the Western Bulldogs, the club said.
And former skipper Crawford will sit out Saturday night's match against the Brisbane Lions with shin soreness.
The problem could also cause him to miss the following round's match against Melbourne.
