Lee eyes Test return
Brett Lee has vowed to use his blistering one-day form as a springboard back into the Test side.
Lee's 16 wickets for the tri-series at an average of 21 earned him the man-of-the-series award - despite Glenn McGrath's 15 wickets at 11 - and applied the heat to Michael Kasprowicz as they prepare for another selection dogfight on this month's tour of New Zealand.
Australian captain Ricky Ponting admitted Lee had done his chances no harm during the limited overs series that finished at the SCG with the hosts beating Pakistan by 31 runs to take the series 2-1.
"My long-term goal is definitely to get back into the Test team," said Lee, kept on the sidelines by Kasprowicz for the last nine Tests since his return from ankle surgery.
"I do want to play Test match cricket. Hopefully I can use these one-day matches to try and push for that selection.
"It's going to be hard work but there are a few one-dayers coming up in New Zealand so hopefully I can use that to try and push again.
"It's probably the best I've ever felt.
"I'm fit, I'm strong, I'm feeling like I'm ready to play.
"That's courtesy of the hard work I've done the last five or six months.
"I've finally got my left ankle right, there's no pain there and to bowl without any pain or discomfort is the most amazing feeling."
