Scary Aussies among best ever
An exasperated Stephen Fleming felt Australia's "best-ever" claims were realistic after the world champions clinically dismantled New Zealand on Tuesday.
The NZ skipper regarded it scary that Australia, possessing a bowling attack of "three Richard Hadlees and the greatest leg-spinner of all", would only improve after completing another Test series clean sweep at the Adelaide Oval.
It gave the world champions - regarded alongside the powerful West Indian team from the 1980s as the best in history - their ninth win from 13 matches and fourth series win in a row since last Christmas.
In that time they have lost only one Test, the astonishing dead rubber defeat on a crumbling Mumbai turner earlier this month.
Fleming believed the 213-run thumping combined with the innings and 156-run result in Brisbane last week would "send tremors" across the world.
So dominant and relentless is the current Australian side he rated both its batting and bowling line-ups as among the best in the game's history.
Regarded as the most astute captain in world cricket, Fleming said outclassed rivals could only challenge for a day or so each Test.
"Teams are going to have their days and challenge at certain times ... but day in and day out this Australian team is by far the most superior cricket team around," he said.
"You can just see there's more development to come which is the scary thing.
"Some of that bowling in the Test series was superb it was like having three Richard Hadlees and the greatest leg-spinner of all."
