Kangaroos "won't be conned again"
The Kangaroos have landed in London with team management still fuming over New Zealand's shrunken ground and determined not to be hoodwinked again.
Australian team manager Geoff Carr has written to Britain's RFL to request the Kangaroos are fully informed of the dimensions of every field to be used in the rest of the Tri-Nations rugby league series.
Carr was angry the New Zealanders "conned" the tournament by cutting the field at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland in Saturday's 16-16 draw from the standard 68 metres wide to 61m with an in-goal depth of the minimum six metres, even though there was plenty of space on the sides and the ends.
New Zealand officials later admitted it was a deliberate ploy to stifle Australia's attack.
"We've said we want to be aware of what the field dimensions are," Carr said.
"The Australian team wants the international standard field where it is possible. If the ground isn't big enough and the field's going to be smaller, we want to be consulted.
"There's no home ground in this tournament. It's a tournament of three nations run by three nations.
"But New Zealand, because they hosted the first game, they went ahead and did want they wanted.
"They not only admitted it, they said they did it on purpose.
"I don't know who conned the administration and said 'we can do it'. But we're just not going to let it happen again."
