Test spots up for grabs
Test selectors have added extra spice to Sunday's NRL grand final by declaring spots are still up for grabs in the Kangaroos squad heading into the premiership decider.
Australian coach Wayne Bennett will take a squad of 23 away with him for the Tri-Nations tournament and history has shown grand final form can get fringe players across the line.
"You only have to look at the Penrith players last year," national selector Les Geeves said.
"All the selectors were there and they were watching and they picked it the morning after.
"You're better off being in the grand final."
The only certainties from Sunday's grand final teams are Roosters quartet Anthony Minichiello, Craig Wing, Michael Crocker and Craig Fitzgibbon and Bulldogs trio Mark O'Meley, Steve Price and Willie Mason.
A host of players are on the fringes.
Roosters trio Shannon Hegarty, Ryan Cross and Brett Finch are in contention along with Bulldogs players Willie Tonga, Andrew Ryan, Braith Anasta and Brent Sherwin.
"I don't know, I wouldn't have a clue these days," Anasta said when asked if he thought he was a chance.
"I'll just go out there and play my best footy and see what happens. At the end of the day if I make it I'm stoked, if I don't I'll move on.
