Aussies wrap up one-day series
Australia crushed Bangladesh in their final one-day cricket international in Darwin to wrap up the experimental northern series three-nil.
Both sides hailed the first Top End series a success, despite Australia's resounding and predicted whitewash of the three one-day and two-Test tournament, held in Darwin and Cairns.
Captain Ricky Ponting led by example, posting a solid century and taking two text-book catches to help Australia to a 112 run win over Bangladesh in the third and final one-day international at Marrara Oval.
His 101 came off 113 balls before he was caught deep by Tushar Imran.
Australia was able to lift for the game, despite already convincingly wrapping up the series by bowling out Bangladesh for 105 and 147 in the two Cairns matches.
"We've played well," Ponting said.
"We've done everything we had to do but ... more importantly our attitude's been really good.
"We've really tried to get out there and play as hard as we can and as well as we can.
"The guys have all stayed up for the three games and played really well."
Bangladesh's bowlers put up a good fight to restrict Australia to 7-254 on the slow and low Marrara wicket, but their batsmen crumbled under the might of Australia's champion bowling attack.
