Scott questions Dicker's numbers
Rebel leader Don Scott has questioned whether incumbent Hawthorn president Ian Dicker has the support of his board at the ailing AFL club.
Scott, a former Hawks premiership captain who warded off a merger with Melbourne in 1996, has formed a ticket to challenge Dicker's board, which will post another financial loss and is still searching for a new coach.
Scott's Operation Recovery has started collecting the 100 signatures it needs to force an extraordinary general meeting, which could be held as early as November.
While he remains tight-lipped whether he seeks the presidency, Scott doubted whether his former ally Dicker - both opposed the merger push - had the backing of his own board.
"There are five (board members) that have expressed to me that he should move on," Scott said.
Scott, himself a former board member, will release details of his ticket when the group collects the 100 signatures required to push for a spill.
He said his group offered members an alternative in a year from hell, which has included dismal on-field performances, the sacking of coach Peter Schwab and off-field police inquiries.
But Scott's campaign suffered a blow when former Victorian premier Jeff Kennett rejected his overtures to become an alternative president.
Scott also took aim at former playing greats Dermott Brereton and Jason Dunstall as well as the club's sub-committee searching for a new coach, which missed signing Terry Wallace.
"They seem to have put their eggs in one basket by going after the first person, Terry Wallace, and he's gone to Richmond," Scott told Foxtel.
