Australian soccer team named for Crete
Eugen Galekovic has claimed the goalkeeping spot ahead of Brad Jones for Australia's opening Olympic men's soccer game against Tunisia in Crete.
In probably the most contentious spot, coach Frank Farina selected Melbourne-based Galekovic ahead of the reserve Middlesbrough custodian.
Farina is sticking with the attacking formation he has used in the lead-up Games, effectively opting for three forwards.
The match is a vital one for the Olyroos who are expected to need at least a draw if they are to get past the preliminary round.
Australia's other pool matches are against Serbia and Montenegro and Argentina.
The Australian women's team, the Matildas, play Brazil in Thessaloniki.
