Socceroos goalkeeper Brad Jones has returned home from Australia's World Cup camp after receiving news of a serious illness in his family.
Jones left South Africa on Saturday to be with his immediate family and a Football Federation Australia statement said it was unclear whether he would return and participate in the tournament.
FFA has applied to FIFA to be able to replace Jones in the squad if necessary under special circumstances provisions and is awaiting written approval.
