Riewoldt, McPharlin accept AFL bans
St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt will miss Saturday night's clash with Gold Coast through suspension, the first ban of his AFL career.
And Fremantle will not have defender Luke McPharlin to take on Hawthorn star Lance Franklin in Saturday night's important encounter at Patersons Stadium, after he also accepted a one-game suspension.
Cumulative discounts for Riewoldt's previous clean record and his early plea meant the 213-game forward was able to reduce his penalty to a one-match ban for his high bump on Adelaide's Brad Symes.
He would have risked also missing the following round's clash with the Dockers had he fought the rough conduct charge at the tribunal on Tuesday night.
McPharlin would have been able to accept a reprimand for striking West Coast's Josh Kennedy, but carryover demerit points from a previous offence meant he was suspended for one game instead.
Brisbane's Jed Adcock accepted a reprimand for making forceful front-on contact to North Melbourne's Levi Greenwood.
North Melbourne's Leigh Adams and Brisbane's Pearce Hanley will each pay $900 fines for making contact with umpires, meaning there will be no tribunal hearing on Tuesday night.
