Uate named RLPA player of the year
Newcastle and NSW winger Akuila Uate has won the Rugby League Players Association players' player of the year award.
The Fijian-born flyer was presented with the prize in Sydney on Tuesday and held of challenges from Paul Gallen, Johnathan Thurston, Matt Bowen, Glenn Stewart, Benji Marshall and Billy Slater.
Players vote for their opponents on a 3-2-1 basis after each Match during the NRL Season and the votes are tallied after Round 26.
In other awards presented on the night, NSW skipper Gallen was named the representative player of the year with Wests Tigers star Benji Marshall taking the New Zealand representative player of the year award
Manly's Daly Cherry-Evans added the RLPA players' rookie of the year award to the Dally M award he collected last week.
