Storm trio in line for game's top honour
Melbourne Storm's Billy Slater, Cameron Smith and Greg Inglis have put some of their World Cup disappointment behind them with nominations for this year's Golden Boot award.
The trio will join five others in the running for the annual award given to the man judged the world's best player of the year.
Aside from the Storm trio, Kangaroos teammates Brent Kite and Johnathan Thurston are also in the running, along with New Zealand duo Benji Marshall and Manu Vatuvei and England's Jamie Peacock.
The Golden Boot will be decided at the Rugby League Player's Association dinner in Sydney on November 29.
