Pritchard sweating over high tackle
Forget the NRL judiciary, Canterbury backrower Frank Pritchard knows his scariest punishment for flooring former teammate Wade Graham awaits him at home.
Pritchard, one of the game's most fearsome forwards in full cry, produced an absolute bellringer which left Cronulla playmaker Graham horizontal during their clash at Toyota Stadium on Monday night.
The shoulder charge on the man he played alongside for many seasons at Penrith earned a report but Graham's revenge could happen before Tuesday's match review committee meeting.
"(Graham) said he was going to tell my wife to knock me out," Pritchard said.
Asked if his wife, Raima, was capable of such a hit, Pritchard said: "She can throw them. She's got a mean left hook.
"I'm pretty close to Wado, he just shook it off. We were just laughing about it."
Pritchard didn't think he'd have too much to worry about despite the tackle eventually forcing a drowsy Graham off for an early shower.
"I just thought it was a normal tackle but apparently the video ref saw different," he said.
"My main concern was Wado's safety, just making sure he was okay. I hope I get off.
"If I get suspended then I guess I'll be doing fitness for the whole week."
Sharks coach Shane Flanagan was torn over whether the Kiwi international deserved to be suspended for the second-half incident, with Pritchard's shoulder appearing to make contact with Graham's head.
"I thought it was a great tackle coming from our days," Flanagan said.
"We want our big men to get up there and put a fear of God into our halves.
"But the way the rule is he came in contact with his head.
"I hope he doesn't get suspended but the rule says you can't come in contact with the head."
