Canterbury recruit Kris Keating has beaten Ben Roberts in the race for five-eighth in the Bulldogs' NRL season-opener against the Wests Tigers on Monday.

Keating, who joined the club from Parramatta, will partner fellow new signing Trent Hodkinson in the halves with Roberts named on the bench by coach Kevin Moore.

Aiden Tolman and Frank Pritchard, who has been named on the bench, will also make their debuts.
