Five AFL games on final Saturday
All teams currently placed in the AFL top eight have been excused from playing on the final day of the home and away season.
The AFL finalised the schedule for round 24 on Monday, which includes the first game for premiership points at Adelaide Oval between Port Adelaide and Melbourne on September 4.
The only other match to be played on the final day is between Richmond and North Melbourne.
Although Melbourne and North Melbourne are both still in contention for a finals berth, the AFL decided to reward teams currently inside the top eight.
Round 24 will begin with a top-of-the-table MCG clash between Collingwood and Geelong on Friday, September 2.
