Eagles hopeful on Daniel Kerr recovery
West Coast ruckman Dean Cox is hopeful star AFL onballer Daniel Kerr will prove his fitness in time to take on Fremantle in Sunday's western derby clash at Patersons Stadium.
Kerr, who missed last week's loss to St Kilda due to a series of sore spots, was restricted to light drills on Wednesday at the club's open training session. However, Cox hinted the 28-year-old might have already done some extra work away from the prying eyes of the media.
"Kerrey might have done a bit more before you guys got there," Cox said on Wednesday.
"A lot of people think that we have one session then everyone trains. Kerrey's been doing enough work and hopefully he'll be right to go."
Ruckman Nic Naitanui and defender Darren Glass were also on light duties, but Cox said that is nothing out of the ordinary.
"Young players at certain times throughout weeks have to recover. He (Naitanui) might be on a light or reduced workload at the minute for a week or two, just like a lot of senior players," Cox said.
"Glassy didn't do much this morning.
"We've got our main session tomorrow and that's what this week is all about, to make sure all players are ready to go for the main session leading into Fremantle."
