Fans warned to be early at Etihad Stadium
Expectations remain high for a potential record crowd at Etihad Stadium for Carlton's emotion-charged AFL clash with Geelong.
Friday night's round-nine match will be a special occasion for the undefeated Cats as they farewell club great Bob Davis with a video tribute and a minute's silence before the game.
The AFL Hall of Famer, whose 189-game playing career with the Cats included two premierships, coached Geelong to the 1963 flag.
Davis died after a recent battle with illness on Monday night, aged 82.
It's also a big game for the hosts Carlton who are fourth on the ladder.
The record crowd for an AFL game at Etihad Stadium is 54,444 for the St Kilda-Geelong match in round 14, 2009.
Etihad Stadium released a statement on Thursday encouraging fans to arrive early for the 7.40pm game.
