Gower linked with Souths for 2012
Speculation that Craig Gower will link with South Sydney in 2012 has hit Redfern and one man who believes the dual international would be a good for the struggling NRL club is Rabbitohs' enforcer Michael Crocker.
Gower, 32, who is currently playing rugby union in Europe, is off contract with his French side Bayonne and Souths could have an opening at halfback with current No.7 Chris Sandow linked with a big money move to Parramatta next season.
"The boys told me that at training today (about Gower). Obviously that would be great if that was the case, he's a great competitor and he's had a very successful career," Crocker said.
"I've played with him once and he's a really good organiser and controller of the game, so he'd be a great asset to have at any club."
Souths captain Roy Asotasi however, said his focus was on Friday night's clash with Cronulla at ANZ Stadium and not whether Penrith's 2003 NRL premiership winning skipper was joining the Rabbitohs next year.
"There's speculation about Craig Gower coming to the club next year but I don't know anything ... all I know is that we've got a game against the Sharks and Craig Gower won't be there," he said.
Wigan coach Michael Maguire, who will coach Souths next year is believed to be interested in bringing former NRL stars Brett Finch and Ryan Hoffman back with him from the UK based Warriors side.
But who is going and who is staying doesn't concern Asotasi.
"As players we don't really take notice of that kind of stuff, we leave that to the administration, they are the one's who take care of that kind of stuff off the field. All we can do as players is try and turn up and train and play."
