Gower likely to remain a Panther
Disgraced Penrith playmaker Craig Gower is likely to remain at the 2003 NRL premiers this season.
Shortly after arriving in Sydney after his honeymoon in Vietnam, Gower made it clear he wants to remain with the Panthers despite his recent disagreement with the club.
"I want to stay with the club," Gower told the Australian newspaper.
"It's been blown out of proportion, the whole fact that I want to leave."
The Panthers livewire was axed as skipper and fined $100,000 - $70,000 of which was suspended - following allegations of misbehaviour at a charity golf tournament late last year.
Gower was reportedly upset with the club's handling of the matter and was said to be looking elsewhere for employment.
"I have a couple of issues I want to work through," Gower told the newspaper. "I will sit down with the club when I get the chance."
Penrith chief executive Glenn Matthews welcomed Gower's comments and said he would meet with the player shortly to discuss a few issues.
Gower started his first grade career with the Panthers a decade ago and has played a vital part in the club's success at the foot of the mountains.
