Peter Schwab to be AFL's coaching director
Peter Schwab has been appointed as the AFL's director of coaching.
The ex-Hawthorn coach will manage "broad-based and high-performance coaching strategies", the AFL said in a statement on Friday.
Schwab will also review, develop and publish coaching curriculum specific to each segment of the pathway and lead course development in coach education as well as mentoring the AIS/AFL high performance coach.
AFL general manager National and International Development David Matthews said Schwab would start in early December after he completes his duties as chief executive officer of AFL Victoria.
"I have really enjoyed my time at AFL Victoria and involvement with community football and look forward to this exciting new challenge," Schwab said.
"Coaching is a fundamental part of our game and it's important that we work with coaches at all levels to further opportunities and pathways for coaches and players."
