Benji bemoans goalkicking slump
Wests Tigers NRL ace Benji Marshall compared his goalkicking slump to a golfer's performance and says it will be back to the drawing board this week.
Marshall has landed just three out of his last 11 kicks at goal after raising the flags with two of his five attempts in the Tigers' 38-20 loss to Manly at Bluetongue Stadium on Sunday.
"I've done a lot of work during the week on goalkicking and it would be nice if we scored them under the posts," Marshall told reporters.
"But it's one of those things, I suppose it's like a golfer, you are on one day and I've been off the last couple.
"I will go back to the drawing board and do some work again this week."
The Tigers retained third spot despite the loss, while Manly moved up to fourth.
It was the Tigers' first defeat in four games and just their second in their past nine since a 50-10 flogging by Souths.
Coach Tim Sheens was looking for the Tigers to bounce back like they did from their last-up defeat against St George Illawarra.
He pointed out the Tigers still had several players on their injury list.
However, he was hopeful of getting winger Beau Ryan and English international forward Gareth Ellis back next Saturday's clash with lowly Cronulla at Leichhardt Oval.
Captain and hooker Robbie Farah will be checked out on Monday after suffering a head knock in a clash with Manly centre Steve Matai, who was put on report for the tackle.
