NRL demands Marshall report
The NRL has demanded Wests Tigers deliver a full report on the Benji Marshall assault case by midday on Monday as it deals with yet another off-field drama just days out from the season kick-off.
Marshall, the face of the NRL after launching the season last week, was on Sunday charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
It follows an altercation in the early hours of Saturday morning in Sydney's CBD in which Marshall is alleged to have reacted to racial taunts.
Marshall will answer the charge in court on April 20, but his availability for the Tigers over the opening rounds of the competition is now in doubt, with the NRL poised to act.
