Spain happy to take ugly route at WC
Happy to reach the last 16 of the World Cup, Spain is ready to abandon its attacking playing style if it means going even further into the tournament.
Spain laboured to a 2-1 win over 10-man Chile on Friday to take top spot in Group H and set up an elimination match against Portugal in Cape Town on Tuesday.
The European champion's usually attractive passing was mostly ditched in favor of a slower tempo, physical affair.
Midfielder Andres Iniesta said "this is a World Cup and we're going to try and do the best we can even though sometimes a rival makes it complicated for you and you have to change your way."
