Swans worried about expanded competition
Sydney coach Paul Roos says the AFL faces a big challenge to come up with a fair and equitable draw for their expanded competition.
The AFL last week revealed a broad range of proposals for the 18-team competition, starting from 2012 onwards.
Among the proposals were a 12-team finals series and a slightly extended home-and-away season and wildcard finals entrants.
"It's one of the biggest single challenges for the AFL, we've already seen how the draw can shape the ladder," Roos told reporters on Monday.
"It's a significant difference if you're playing the top teams as opposed to the bottom teams (twice).
"I think that's a really big challenge for the AFL to try and make it as equitable as possible, because if you've got a tough draw, it means you can miss out (on the finals).
"I think it really is a big issue, when there's an 18-team competition to find a draw that is fair to everyone. It's going to be very tough to do."
