Barry Hall fit for St Kilda clash
Sydney coach Paul Roos says key forward Barry Hall is fitter than at the start of the season, ahead of his AFL return on Saturday against former club St Kilda.
Hall has served a seven-match ban for punching West Coast's Brent Staker in round four and has recovered from a broken wrist suffered in the same match.
Roos said while Hall's match fitness is down, he had been keeping up with training during his absence from the game.
"He's been doing a lot of running so he's probably fitter than when he first played this year," Roos said.
"(He's) significantly fitter because he's obviously had some footy under his belt, but he's been running for about five weeks now anyway.
"He'd be pretty fit, obviously match fitness is down a little but he's a fair way ahead of where he was coming into it."
Roos said he was not worried about opposition players baiting Hall on his return.
"Hally's the sort of guy, like all those key forwards, that will get bumped and grabbed and pushed and all those sorts of things," he said.
"He's generally coped with that up until the last time.
"That doesn't concern me, it's just making sure he's mentally ready to go."
The Swans defeated West Coast at Subiaco Oval, kicking 10 of the final 13 goals of the match to turn a 37-point third-quarter deficit into a 12.11 (83) to 11.12 (78) triumph.
Roos praised both teams and said the win came by focussing on the Swans' successful match tactics.
"It's such an even competition and it's about taking opportunities," he said.
"West Coast were great in the first half, we were really good in the second half.
"We happened to be in front at the right time and the right place.
"It was a really good win."
