Essendon coach talks up NRL's Inglis
Essendon coach Matthew Knights has done nothing to dispel speculation linking the AFL club to NRL star Greg Inglis.
Earlier this month it was revealed that Essendon had spoken informally to the management of the key Melbourne Storm player.
There is ongoing speculation about Inglis' playing future following the Storm salary cap scandal.
The AFL have made two successful raids on NRL talent, luring Karmichael Hunt to Gold Coast and Israel Folau to Greater Western Sydney.
Regardless of whether Hunt and Folau successfully make the transition, their signings have already proved marketing coups for the two expansion clubs.
On Sunday, Knights was shown footage of a massive Inglis punt during last week's State Of Origin game.
"He made good contact there, didn't he?," Knights said with a grin on Channel Seven's Game Day.
He would not talk specifically about the prospect of luring Inglis to Essendon, but was clearly supportive of the concept.
"There's a realistic chance with the athletes they are, to embrace our game," Knights said.
"Sure, it might take them two or three years of development, but he does move nicely."
