Toulon swoop for George Smith
Toulon have signed former Australian flanker George Smith for the 2010/11 season.
The 29-year-old, the Wallabies' most-capped forward and the fifth most-capped player in international rugby union with 110 appearances, joins an influx of new signings at the Top 14 club.
Having played in two World Cups, Smith announced his international retirement in February and stated his desire for "a new experience with a foreign club" after 120 Super Rugby appearances for the Brumbies, in which he scored 21 tries.
Toulon have been busily recruiting for the new season, with Smith joining a pack already bolstered by Kiwi prop Carl Hayman, Bourgoin front-row duo Jean-Philippe Genevois and Karena Wihongi and Sale second-rower Dean Schofield.
In the backs, Albi's Benjamin Lapeyre and England wing Paul Sackey have also joined the ambitious club.
