Hille cleared, Waite facing two-week ban
Essendon have again dodged a bullet with ruckman David Hille, but Carlton key-position player Jarrad Waite has been hit with a three-game suspension by the AFL match review panel.
Waite was reported for engaging in rough conduct against Port Adelaide's Jason Davenport in Sunday's clash at AAMI Stadium and on Monday drew 325 demerit points.
Waite can reduce that to a two-game suspension with an early guilty plea.
But Essendon were again relieved with Hille, as his match report for engaging in rough conduct against St Kilda's Brendon Goddard on Sunday at Etihad Stadium was withdrawn.
The panel ruled Hille bumped Goddard as the Saint kicked the ball, but not to the head or neck, and that the force was not deemed unreasonable.
Hille, who had twice already avoided penalty over reports this season, is now free to play Richmond on Saturday night at the MCG.
But the Tigers could be without midfielder Daniel Jackson, who was on Monday charged with headbutting Hawthorn's Campbell Brown at the MCG on Sunday.
Jackson drew 250 demerit points and his 80 carry-over points bumped the penalty to a three-game suspension, but he can reduce that to a two-game ban by pleading guilty.
Hawks skipper Sam Mitchell and Fremantle goalsneak Hayden Ballantyne were both charged with pulling the hair of opponents.
Mitchell was booked for pulling the hair of Tiger Ben Nason, and Ballantyne was charged with doing the same to Collingwood's Harry O'Brien.
Both offenders were fined $1200 but can reduce the sanctions to $900 by pleading guilty.
Carlton ruckman Matthew Warnock was fined $1200 for making negligent contact with an umpire, and can also trim the penalty to $900 with a guilty plea.
St Kilda defender Steven Baker also had his report, for wrestling Essendon's Leroy Jetta, withdrawn.
