Panthers duo fined after bar incident
Penrith have fined NRL first-graders Maurice Blair and Brad Tighe after an incident at a Penrith bar on Sunday night.
The club says the duo were given infringement notices by Penrith police for allegedly failing to leave a licensed premises and directing offensive language at police.
In response the Panthers have fined both players and sent them to play for the Windsor Wolves in the NSW Cup competition this weekend while their first grade team-mates enjoy a bye in the NRL competition.
"While there is no suggestion the players were in any altercation or (involved) in any damage to property, the simple fact is that they should not have put themselves in the position where they were asked to leave licensed premises and if asked they should have left," Panthers chief executive Michael Leary said in a statement.
"Clearly this should have never got to this point and Maurice and Brad are all too aware of that.
"I've spoken to both of them this morning, they understand how foolish it was."
